![]() It loses all uniqueness to it after a half dozen encounters. Your fighting him over 50 times for all the moves I seem to recall and even more for the 100%.Īnd the problem is, it basically holds no weight after a while as you basically just use one tactic that works (which will eventually just be Tiger Dropping him) over and over. but not just any fights, specific random spawns that can take ages to show up. And you have to grind Majima fights over and over. And then they reveal you cannot use that fighting style for at least 2/3 - 3/4 of the game because its absolutely useless. When Kiwami was announced I was excited to replay RGG1 with that fighting style beginning to end, just with refined lock on, 60FPS and other general improvements. But this is also coming from someone who loves the original Yakuza (its still my most replayed entry of the series, due to its brisk length) and loves Kiryu's proper fighting style. Majima Anywhere is basically a good idea that's run into the ground really quickly. Playing LJ so darn much makes me so happy with how much better the combat is, but also incredibly annoyed that 6 and Kiwami 2 (and to a far lesser extent - JE) turned out combat wise. ![]() I just hate what they did to combat in so many ways in Kiwami 2. 3 good changes (those are 60FPS, a better lock on, and no way of missing side stories)Īs for 2. 1 was a fine game, a tad rough but darn fine, Kiwami just makes a series of baffling or bad design changes and like. It also feels the need to add in or extend fetch quests again for no good reason. That's not to mention bosses regenerating health (so for all that is right, unlock the special Kiwami heat moves immediately) and one early game boss fight that somehow takes 3x longer (Im sad enough to have timed it) than the original fight for literally no good reason. Kiwami makes the entire thing far more sloth like in progress thanks to locking Kiryu's main fighting style behind one of the biggest grinds in the entire series. There's almost no fat to the game, its really fast paced. You can 100% it (assuming you use a guide - trust me) in about 20 hours if that. RGG1 (the PS2 game/PS3 remaster) is a really good, and pretty short game. ![]() 1&2 are (were) fine as is in terms of game design, I'd argue Kiwami 1 makes things less good by piling on a bunch of mechanics that really had no business being included in a remake.
